1 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups bread flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons dry milk
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
1/2 cup sunflower seeds

Steps:

  • Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except seeds in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Add nuts at the Raisin/Nut signal or 5 to 10 minutes before last kneading cycle ends.
  • Select Basic/White cycle. Use Medium or Light crust color. Do not use delay cycle. Remove baked bread from pan, and cool on wire rack.
  • I made mine on the Dough cycle.

2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
3-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1/4 cup bread flour
1/3 cup canola oil
1/3 cup honey
3 teaspoons salt
6-1/2 to 7-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup sunflower kernels
3 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the bread flour, oil, honey, salt and 4 cups whole wheat flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in sunflower kernels and enough remaining flour to form a firm dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes.
