1/2 tsp salt
freshly ground pepper to taste
2 lbs cubed lean beef stew meat
3 T butter
1 can (10 1/2 ounce) double strength beef broth undiluted
1 tsp worcestershire sauce

On a sheet of wax paper combine flour, salt and pepper and toss meat in the mixture to coat. in a large skillet over medium heat melt 2 T butter and add beef and brown on all sides, about 10 minutes. Add broth, worcestershire sauce, and mustard and bring to a boil, stirring until blended. Stir in wine, and transfer to a 2 1/2 qt. casserole dish lightly coated with cooking spray or oil. Cover and bake 1 hour, add onions, garlic and mushrooms and bake, covered for 30 minutes longer. Blend in sour cream and back uncovered until meat is tender and sauce is warmed through. About 10 minutes

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the flavor of your stroganoff. Look for tender beef, flavorful mushrooms, and creamy sour cream.
  • Cook the beef in batches: Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the beef. This will prevent the beef from cooking evenly and becoming tough.
  • Use a good quality broth: The broth is an important part of the stroganoff sauce. Use a beef broth that is flavorful and has a rich beefy taste.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: The sauce should be cooked until it is thickened and creamy, but don't overcook it. Overcooked sauce will become thin and watery.
  • Serve immediately: Stroganoff is best served immediately after it is made. The noodles will start to absorb the sauce and become soggy if you let it sit for too long.

Conclusion:

Stroganoff is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its tender beef, creamy sauce, and flavorful mushrooms, it's a dish that everyone will love. Whether you're making it for a special occasion or just a weeknight dinner, stroganoff is sure to be a hit.
