Time 1h

Yield 8 cup, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups rice, boiled
1 cup milk
1 lb sausage
1 small onion
1 sweet pepper
margarine

Steps:

  • Remove the seeds from the pepper, chop and parboil.
  • Add pepper and onion, chopped fine, to the rice.
  • Mix thoroughly and put a layer in a buttered baking dish.
  • Add a layer of the sausages which have been partially cooked, and cover with rice.
  • Pour milk over it all and dot with butter.
  • Cover and bake for one-half hour.
  • Remove the cover and bake for another half hour.
  • Temperature: 350F Time: 1 hour.

Tips:

  • Use day-old rice: Day-old rice is less sticky and clumps less, making it ideal for fried rice.
  • Choose the right rice: Short-grain rice, such as Japanese or sushi rice, is best for fried rice because it has a higher starch content, which helps the rice stick together.
  • Cook the rice properly: Rinse the rice well before cooking to remove the starch. Cook the rice in a ratio of 1 cup rice to 1 1/4 cups water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  • Use high heat: When cooking fried rice, use high heat to quickly sear the rice and prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • Add aromatics: Aromatics, such as garlic, onion, and ginger, add flavor to fried rice. Sauté them in oil until they are fragrant before adding the rice.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Vegetables add color, texture, and nutrients to fried rice. Some popular vegetables to use include broccoli, carrots, peas, and bell peppers.
  • Add protein: Protein, such as chicken, shrimp, or tofu, can be added to fried rice for a more complete meal.
  • Season to taste: Season the fried rice with salt, pepper, and other spices to taste.

Conclusion:

Fried rice is a versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. By following these tips, you can make delicious fried rice at home. Experiment with different ingredients and flavors to create your own favorite fried rice recipe.
