SWEET AND SPICY THAI CURRY AND COCONUT SAUCE

SWEET AND SPICY THAI CURRY AND COCONUT SAUCE image

Categories     Sauce     Citrus     No-Cook

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar (white vinegar is fine)
1 Tbsp fresh grated ginger
4-6 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp of sesame oil (if heating the sauce add this at the end as heat will make this flavor weaker)
This is my basic teriyaki sauce for any marinating of meats to be stir fried later. Marinate for at least 2 hours but overnight is best.
Now to spice it up......
1/2 cup mirin (japanese sweetened sake)
zest and juice from 2 limes
3/4 cup of sweetened coconut flakes
4 oz. green curry paste

Steps:

  • I like to use a hand blender at the start of this sauce to get everything blended well. Put all ingredients but the coconut in a food processor or use a hand blender until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add coconut at the end stirring in to keep flakes intact. If you are going to cook with this sauce add the sesame oil just before serving to get the best flavor from it.

Tips:

  • Choose the right coconut milk: Full-fat coconut milk will give you the richest, creamiest sauce. You can use light coconut milk if you prefer a lighter sauce, but it will be less flavorful.
  • Use fresh coconut if you can: Fresh coconut will give your sauce a more intense coconut flavor. If you can't find fresh coconut, you can use unsweetened shredded coconut.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: Overcooked coconut sauce will be thick and gloopy. Cook it just until it has thickened slightly and is heated through.
  • Use a variety of spices: Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom will add warmth and depth of flavor to your sauce.
  • Taste the sauce as you go: Adjust the sweetness, acidity, and spiciness of the sauce to your liking.

Conclusion:

Now you have some tips to improve your cooking skill, making the perfect sweet coconut sauce is easy. Just follow the simple steps in the recipes above and you'll be able to enjoy this delicious sauce in no time. Whether you use it as a dip, a glaze, or a marinade, sweet coconut sauce is sure to please everyone at your table. So what are you waiting for? Start cooking!
