2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes (4 medium), peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
1 head cauliflower (2 pounds), cored and cut into large florets
2/3 cup whole milk
1 stick unsalted butter
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Pinch of cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add sweet potatoes and return to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 8 minutes. Add cauliflower; return to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes and cauliflower are very tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Drain and return vegetables to pot.
