Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pkg active dry yeast
3 Tbsp sugar
1 c warm water
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
3 1/2 c bread flour
1 c splenda or equivalent

Steps:

  • 1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water in large mixing bowl and let stand 5 minutes. Add olive oil, egg, and salt. Stir to mix. Add 2 cups bread flour and splenda a little at a time and mix with electric mixer until smooth. Stir in 1 additional cup of bread flour.
  • 2. Use remaining 1/2 cup of bread flour to knead dough until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl and cover with cheesecloth. Place bowl in warm area until dough doubles in size. Punch dough down and knead for 1 minute. Form dough into loaf and place in greased loaf pan. Cut 3 diagonal slits in top of load, cover with cheesecloth, and place in warm area until doubles in size.
  • 3. Bake at 375 degrees until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start baking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and tools ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid any mishaps.
  • Proof the Yeast: Always proof the yeast before using it to ensure that it is active. This will help your bread rise properly.
  • Knead the Dough Properly: Kneading the dough is an important step in bread making. It helps to develop the gluten in the flour, which gives the bread its structure and texture.
  • Let the Dough Rise: After kneading, let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to produce carbon dioxide, which will cause the bread to rise.
  • Bake the Bread Properly: When baking the bread, make sure the oven is preheated to the correct temperature. Also, keep an eye on the bread while it is baking to prevent it from overcooking.
