Searching for ways to add life and flavor to the next Taco Tuesday? Salsa is an easy and appetizing addition to any Mexican meal. The best salsa for your taco, burrito, or quesadilla depends on your tastes. If you are looking for a salsa with a light and refreshing taste, pico de gallo is a great option. Other thin salsas include red salsa or tomatillo salsa. No matter which thin salsa recipe you choose, make sure to use fresh ingredients to get the best results.

RESTAURANT STYLE SALSA
Recipe video above. Just like what you get at your favourite restaurant and those jars sold alongside corn chips at the grocery store.... but it's better, healthier and cheaper! The fresh flavour is so, so good. Make it chunkier or smoother, to your taste.

Steps:
- Place onion and jalapeno in the food processor first, then add remaining ingredients (start with 1/2 tbsp lime juice).
- Blitz to desired consistency - I like mine pretty smooth because you get better flavour out of the onion etc.
- Taste test with corn chip for salt and lime. Adjust if necessary.
- Refrigerate 1 hour before serving with corn chips, or other dippers (see in post for suggestions).

Steps:
- Combine the diced tomatoes, whole tomatoes, cilantro, onions, garlic, jalapeno, cumin, salt, sugar and lime juice in a blender or food processor. (This is a very large batch. I recommend using a 12-cup food processor, or you can process the ingredients in batches and then mix everything together in a large mixing bowl.)
- Pulse until you get the salsa to the consistency you'd like. I do about 10 to 15 pulses. Test seasonings with a tortilla chip and adjust as needed.
- Refrigerate the salsa for at least an hour before serving.
FRESH RESTAURANT-STYLE SALSA
This addictive salsa is restaurant quality, or maybe even better! It's fresh and flavorful, not too spicy, and easy to make in a food processor with a mix of ripe and canned Roma tomatoes. This makes a big batch which is good because it will go fast. Serve with lots of thin, crispy tortilla chips and a margarita, of course!

Steps:
- Combine tomatoes, onions, vinegar, tomato paste, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, banana peppers, sugar, garlic, pickling salt, and black pepper in a large stockpot; bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 30 minutes. Mix cilantro into salsa.
- Sterilize the jars and lids in boiling water for at least 5 minutes. Pack salsa into hot, sterilized jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of the top. Run a knife or thin spatula around the insides of the jars after they have been filled to remove any air bubbles. Wipe the rims of the jars with a moist paper towel to remove any food residue. Top with lids and screw on rings.
- Place a rack in the bottom of a large stockpot and fill halfway with water. Bring to a boil and lower jars into the boiling water using a holder. Leave a 2-inch space between the jars. Pour in more boiling water if necessary to bring the water level to at least 1 inch above the tops of the jars. Bring the water to a rolling boil, cover the pot, and process for 35 minutes.
- Remove the jars from the stockpot and place onto a cloth-covered or wood surface, several inches apart, until cool. Once cool, press the top of each lid with a finger, ensuring that the seal is tight (lid does not move up or down at all). Store in a cool, dark area.

THIN SALSA
This salsa is similar to the kind found in Mexican restaurants. It's very different from the canned type in the grocery. It's thin and flavorful. It's so easy to make, and you'll get many complements! You can change the amount of cayenne depending on how hot you like it.

Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the salsa will taste. This means using ripe tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and peppers.
- Roast your tomatoes: Roasting tomatoes brings out their natural sweetness and flavor. You can roast them in the oven or on the grill.
- Use a variety of peppers: Different peppers add different flavors to salsa. For a mild salsa, use bell peppers. For a medium salsa, use poblano peppers. For a hot salsa, use jalapeño peppers or habanero peppers.
- Don't overcook the salsa: Salsa should be cooked just until the flavors have melded together. Overcooking will make the salsa watery and bland.
- Season the salsa to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You may also want to add a squeeze of lime juice or a dash of hot sauce.
Conclusion:
Thin salsa is a versatile condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. It can be used as a dipping sauce for chips, tacos, and burritos. It can also be used as a marinade for chicken, fish, or shrimp. No matter how you use it, thin salsa is a delicious and flavorful addition to any meal.
