Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb haddock
2 cups panko breadcrumbs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • Preheat over to 500 degrees. Heating at a higher tempeture for lower time keeps the fish moist- especially with milk.
  • Clean fish well. Make sure to dry well. Cut into equal serving pieces.
  • Place milk and breadcrumbs in seperate bowls.
  • Soak fish in milk. This is the key to make it moist.
  • Coat fish with panko breadcrumbs. Make sure to add seasoning to plain panko crumbs. I use oregano, pepper, ground mustard -- and have added hot peppers (but I like a little spice in everything). The key is adding some seasoning to the Panko breadcrumbs.
  • Spray a glass cooking dish with PAM.
  • Place each coated filet in the glass dish.
  • Drizzle lemon juice equally over fish.
  • Melt butter in micowave.
  • Drizzle melted butter over fish.
  • Cook for 15 minutes.
  • Enjoy.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Fish: Select firm, fresh haddock fillets with a mild, sweet flavor and minimal bones.
  • Prep the Pan: Preheat the broiler and grease a baking sheet or broiler pan to prevent the fish from sticking.
  • Season Liberally: Generously season the haddock fillets with salt, pepper, and other desired spices for extra flavor.
  • Add Moisture: Brush the fish with melted butter or olive oil to keep it moist and prevent it from drying out under the broiler.
  • Cook Carefully: Broil the haddock fillets for the recommended time, watching closely to avoid overcooking. The fish should be opaque and flaky when it's done.

Conclusion:

Broiled haddock is a delicious, simple-to-prepare dish with a variety of serving options. Whether you prefer a classic lemon-butter sauce, a zesty salsa, or a creamy tartar sauce, this versatile fish pairs well with various flavors. Experiment with different toppings and sides to create a unique and satisfying meal. Remember, the key to perfectly broiled haddock lies in careful preparation, precise seasoning, and attentive cooking. So, gather your ingredients, preheat your broiler, and get ready to enjoy a flavorful and nutritious broiled haddock dish that will tantalize your taste buds.
