1 cup butter, softened
2-1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon yellow food coloring, optional
3 cups self-rising flour

Steps:

  • Grease a 10-in. fluted tube pan and lightly sprinkle with flour; set aside., In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the evaporated milk, water, extracts and food coloring if desired; add to the creamed mixture alternately with flour, beating well after each addition., Pour into prepared pan. Vegetable shortening, for greasing cookie sheets
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar, plus more for sprinkling
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Grease two large (14-by-16-inch) cookie sheets with shortening.
