Tips:

  • Prep Ingredients First: Before you start cooking, prep all your ingredients by washing, peeling, and chopping them as needed. This will make the cooking process smoother and more efficient.
  • Use Low-Sodium Soy Sauce: If you're watching your sodium intake, consider using low-sodium soy sauce or tamari in the recipe. This will help reduce the overall sodium content of the soup.
  • Adjust Spice Level: The amount of chili paste or flakes you add to the soup can be adjusted to suit your preferred spice level. Start with a small amount and gradually increase it until you reach the desired heat.
  • Use Fresh Ginger and Garlic: Freshly grated ginger and minced garlic add a lot of flavor to the soup. If you don't have fresh ginger or garlic on hand, you can use ground ginger and garlic powder, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Don't Overcook the Vegetables: The vegetables in the soup should be cooked until tender but still slightly crunchy. Overcooking them will make them mushy and less flavorful.
  • Serve Hot and Garnish: Hot and sour soup is best served hot. Garnish it with thinly sliced green onions, cilantro, or a drizzle of sesame oil for an extra layer of flavor and visual appeal.

Tofu hot and sour soup is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be enjoyed as a light meal or an appetizer.
