TVP VEGAN SLOPPY JOES

This is the recipe from "The New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook". SO EASY!!! My kids have always loved this, they are 15 and 11. Originally it called for 3TBS oil, I use 2, but I'm sure you could use less. A little indulgence doesn't hurt. I use olive oil because I LOVE it.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality TVP: Not all TVP is created equal. Look for a brand that is made from whole soybeans and has a high protein content.
  • Rehydrate the TVP properly: TVP needs to be rehydrated before it can be used. The best way to do this is to soak it in hot water for 10-15 minutes. You can also rehydrate TVP in broth or tomato sauce.
  • Brown the TVP: Browning the TVP adds flavor and helps to give it a more meaty texture. You can brown TVP in a skillet over medium heat until it is golden brown.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what really makes sloppy Joes special. Use a sauce that is packed with flavor, such as a tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, or chili sauce.
  • Add some vegetables: Vegetables add nutrients and flavor to sloppy Joes. You can add any vegetables you like, such as onions, peppers, celery, or corn.
  • Serve on a bun: Sloppy Joes are traditionally served on a bun. However, you can also serve them on a tortilla, a piece of bread, or even a salad.

Conclusion:

TVP sloppy Joes are a delicious and affordable meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give TVP sloppy Joes a try!
