NATURE NUTS CHEWY BARS

Nature Nuts Chewy Bars image

I work at a nature camp, as a counselor for the 4 and 5 year olds, or "Nature Nuts". We whipped these bars up one rainy day using whatever we had in the fridge, and they turned out surprisingly well. The chocolate-covered raisins really seem to add something.

3 tablespoons butter
2 cups chocolate covered raisins
5 ¾ ounces toasted oat cereal

Steps:

  • Melt marshmallows, butter, and raisins together over medium heat, stirring until smooth.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest nuts possible. Stale nuts will not have as much flavor and will be more likely to burn.
  • Use a variety of nuts. This will give your bar nuts a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Roast the nuts before using them. This will bring out their flavor and make them more crispy.
  • Season the nuts with your favorite spices and herbs. This could include things like salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, or smoked paprika.
  • Add some other mix-ins to your bar nuts. This could include things like dried fruit, seeds, or chocolate chips.
  • Store your bar nuts in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Making your own bar nuts is a great way to save money and get a healthier snack. With a little planning and effort, you can make a batch of bar nuts that are just as good as, if not better than, the ones you buy at the store. So next time you're looking for a healthy snack, give one of these recipes a try. Remember to get creative and adjust the recipe to your own unique taste.
