1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup brewed black coffee, at room temperature
3 tablespoons instant espresso powder
1 cup plain whole-milk Greek yogurt

¾ cup pure maple syrup
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Spoon hot chocolate frosting on top of warm cake.
  • Frosting:.
  • In a small saucepan, melt butter and chocolate chips. Stir in milk and powdered sugar. Whisk until no lumps remain in mixture.

Tips:

  • Prepare Ingredients Accurately: Measure and prepare all ingredients precisely according to the recipe. This ensures the correct proportions and texture of the cake.
  • Use Quality Ingredients: Opt for high-quality whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips. Fresh ingredients contribute to a better taste and texture.
  • Preheat Oven Properly: Preheat the oven to the specified temperature before starting to mix the batter. This helps the cake rise evenly and prevents a dense texture.
  • Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients Separately: Combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a separate bowl before mixing them with the wet ingredients (eggs, milk, oil, vanilla). This ensures even distribution and prevents overmixing.
  • Do Not Overmix: Mix the batter just until the ingredients are well combined. Overmixing can lead to a tough, dense cake.
  • Bake at the Right Temperature and Time: Follow the recipe's instructions for the baking temperature and time. Insert a toothpick or skewer into the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
  • Let the Cake Cool Completely: Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting or serving. This helps the cake set properly and prevents crumbling.
