Buttermilk Pie image

This is a Southern favorite. It is a custard pie. There are many variations of this pie and most are very good. This is my family favorite. I use my own pie crust recipe as I don't like store bought.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 c sugar
1/4 c all purpose flour
2 eggs
8 Tbsp butter, melted
1 c buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2. Mix sugar and flour together. Beat eggs well and add to dry mix. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • 3. Add butter and buttermilk and mix on high for 2 minutes. Add lemon juice and vanilla extract.
  • 4. Pour mixture into unbaked pie crust. Bake until golden, 55 minutes to 1 hour. Pie will look jiggly when removed. But, will firm as it cools.
