I SAW THIS RECIPE FEATURD ON DINERS DRIVINS N DIVES COMES FROM A PLACE CALLD BLUE MOON CAFE.....IT LOOKD SOOOO GOOD I HAD TO TRY IT......RESULT A CRUNCHY DECADENT ...N NOT AS SWEET AS U MITE THINK... FRENCH TOAST MMMMMMMM :)

2 slice thick, dense bread
2 large eggs
1/8 c heavy cream (i used half n half)
2 c cap'n crunch cereal (crushed but leave some whole pieces too)
1-2 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
powdered sugar
maple syrup

Steps:

  • 1. POUR 2 CUPS (OR MORE) IN GALLON SIZED PLASTIC BAG N CRUSH ....LEAVE SOME PIECES WHOLE...THEN POUR IN PIE PLATE.
  • 2. IN ANOTHER PIE PLATE MIX 2 EGGS, VANILLA, N CREAM.
  • 3. DIP BREAD INTO EGG MIXTURE (DO NOT SATURATE)....THEN PRESS INTO CRUSHD CEREAL.
  • 4. MELT BUTTER ONE TBLSPN AT A TIME IN LARGE PAN ( I USED MY ELECTRIC SKILLET).
  • 5. ON MED/HIGH HEAT CARMELIZE EACH SIDE ABOUT 3-5 min.....ADD OTHER TBLSPN OF BUTTER WEN DOING OTHER SIDE.
  • 6. SPRINKLE WITH CONF. SUGAR N DRIZZLE ON MAPLE SYRUP.......ENJOY :)

I would not recommend this recipe. The Cap'n Crunch coating was too thick and overpowering, and the French toast was soggy.
