Cheat Steak Subs (Ground Beef Subs

This is like a hybrid loose meat/cheesesteak sub. I have crappy knives and crappy knife skills, so this is my easy way of making a cheesesteak.

Time 35m

Yield 4 subs, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/2 cup beef broth
1 lb ground beef
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, diced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt, to taste (you may not need depending on the broth you use)
fresh ground black pepper
0.5 (16 ounce) package Velveeta cheese
1/3 cup milk
4 sub rolls
mayonnaise
ketchup
lettuce

Steps:

  • Sweat onion with a sprinkle of kosher salt and some olive oil.
  • When onion is tender, add ground beef and garlic and brown.
  • After beef has browned, add stock and Worcestershire. Simmer until liquid is absorbed.
  • Grind black pepper over beef mixture to taste.
  • While beef is simmering, microwave Velveeta and milk to make "Whiz". Whisk until smooth.
  • Place sub roll over beef mixture to warm and soak up some juice. Spread with mayo and ketchup. Top with beef, "whiz", and lettuce.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my subs turned out dry and bland. I'll have to try again.

These subs are a great way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. Just add some chopped peppers or onions to the beef.

I've made these subs with different types of bread and they're always delicious. My favorite is to use a hoagie roll.

I'm not a huge fan of ground beef, but these subs were actually really good. The whiz really helped to elevate the flavor.

The whiz is what really makes this sub. It's so creamy and cheesy, and it pairs perfectly with the beef.

This recipe was so easy to follow, even for a beginner like me. The steak subs turned out amazing - the ground beef was flavorful and juicy, and the whiz was the perfect topping. I'll definitely be making this again!
