Steps:
- Cream the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add flour and salt - blend well.
- Add almond extract, cherries and nuts.
- Shape dough into small balls.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 1 inch apart.
- Top with cherry halves.
- Bake 300 degrees 20 -25 minutes.
- Remove from sheets and roll in confectioners sugar while still hot.
- Let cool on racks.
- Roll in sugar again (optional).
