Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c butter, softened
2/3 c sugar
2/3 c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c banana, ripe and mashed (about 2 bananas)
1 egg
2 c chocolate chip morsels

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Add bananas and egg to butter mixture and beat until combined. Gradually add flour mixture, beating until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread batter into a greased 9x13 (or 10x15) pan. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar (I put a litte in a sifter and shake it over the cake, just lightly dusting it). Cut into bars. Enjoy!!

The bars were a bit dry. Maybe it was because I used whole wheat flour. Next time I'll use all-purpose flour and see if that makes a difference.

These bars were a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I would reduce the amount of sugar next time, or use a different type of chocolate.
