Comforting Cranberry Apple Crisp image

This is a recipe I tried for the first time this last Fall. with some apples we had got in the mountains :) I would definately say its a winnner :)

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 c sugar
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 can(s) 16 oz whole berry cranberry sauce
7 c thinly sliced peeled tart apples
TOPPING:
1 c old-fashioned oats
1/3 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/4 c chopped walnuts
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 c cold butter, cubed

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, combine sugar and flour; stir in the cranberry sauce. Add the apples; Toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13x9 dish.
  • 2. In a small bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon; cut in butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples.
  • 3. Bake at 375* for 35-40 minutes or till filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream.

I'm allergic to nuts, so I substituted the walnuts in the crumble topping with chopped pecans. It was still delicious!
