My family enjoys having these beef turnovers in place of sandwiches for a change of pace. They freeze well and can be reheated in the microwave for a quick, hot meal.-Tammy Forbes, Lancaster, New Hampshire

Repeat with other half of pastry and remaining filling. , Place on greased baking sheets; brush tops with remaining egg mixture. Bake at 400° for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with taco sauce if desired.

I'm not a fan of the cornmeal crust. I think I would prefer a traditional wheat flour crust.

I like to make these empanadas ahead of time and freeze them. Then I can just pop them in the oven when I'm ready to serve them.

The filling in these empanadas was a bit bland. I think I would add some more spices next time.

These empanadas were a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I would try baking them next time instead of frying them.

These empanadas are easy to make and they taste great. I used a store-bought cornmeal mix to make the dough, which made it even easier.
