Steps:
- Preheat to 350.Grease round cake pan. Mix sugar & water in pan/cook down-high heat(SWIRL PAN-DO NOT STIR)When golden, add butter. When butter melts,pour in pan.Cool slightly-add cranberries. Mix:flour,cornmeal,baking powder,salt. Mix Separately:butter,sugar,egg yolks(one at a time),vanilla. Add flour mixture & milk to butter mixture alternating, beginning & ending with flour mixture. Whip egg whites & cream of tartar to stiff peaks. Fold into batter. Spread over cranberries. Bake @ 350 for 50-60 min. Let sit 15 min. Loosen with knife & flip.
