Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 large egg white
1 c water
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 c all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
6 large apples, peeled
oil for frying
cinnamon and sugar
FROSTING:
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1/3 c sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp milk
1 to 1-1/2 c powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Whisk the egg white until foamy in a medium bowl. Whisk in the water and vanilla. Add the flour and salt.
  • 2. Slice the peeled apples into 1/2" thick slices. Cut rings out of apple slices, discarding the smallest ring containing the core.
  • 3. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Dip apple rings into the batter and place into the hot oil. Fry the apples in small batches and turn frequently. Remove from oil when golden brown and place on paper towel to drain. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  • 4. Transfer the rings to a wire rack and place it on a baking sheet. Place in a preheated 400-degree oven for 5 - 10 minutes or until the rings turn crispy. Drizzle the frosting over the rings and serve warm.
  • 5. FROSTING INSTRUCTIONS: Combine all the frosting ingredients and stir until combined.

These were good, but I think I would have liked them better if I had used a different type of apple.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my apple rings didn't turn out as crispy as I would have liked. I'm not sure what went wrong.

These were a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think that's just a personal preference. Overall, they were still good.
