Crockpot Split Pea Soup image

This is the only way that I will make my pea soup anymore its really good , I serve it with hot corn bread ...yummy

Number Of Ingredients 11

16oz pkg dried green split pea's ; rinsed
1 ham bone or meaty ham hocks
3 medium carrots ; peeled and sliced
1 medium onion ; chopped
2 stick celery + leaves ; chopped
2 clove garlic ; minced
1 bay leaf
1/4 c parsley ; chopped
1 Tbsp seasoned salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp fresh pepper
1 1/2 qt hot water (6 cups)

Steps:

  • 1. Layer ingredients in the crock pot ; pour in water ; DO NOT STIR.
  • 2. Cover and cook on HIGH setting 4-5 hours or on LOW setting for 8-10 hours ; until the peas are very soft and the meat falls off the bone.
  • 3. Remove bone and bay leaf before serving.
