Easy Crock Pot Spanish Rice image

6 slices bacon, preserve drippings
1 lb ground beef
1 bell pepper, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
4 tablespoons chili powder (or more)
1/2 cup of pace picante salsa
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 (15 ounce) cans Hunts tomato sauce
2 cups blue ribbon parboiled rice (Found in a box)
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Mix the sauce and vegetable and spices in large crock pot.
  • Set crock pot to high.
  • While that is heating brown the ground beef and cook the bacon.
  • When it begins to boil add the ground beef and bacon with bacon dripping.
  • Allow it to return to a boil.
  • Then add the rice and cover and cook one half hour or until the rice is tender.
  • Serves 8 hearty appetites.
