Filipino Ground Beef Sinigang image

This is a great Filipino recipe. It's such a shortcut to the normal sinigang recipe, but just as good!

2 pounds ground beef
8 cups water
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 3/4-inch pieces
3 medium tomatoes, sliced
1 large red onion, sliced
1 (1.41 ounce) package tamarind soup base

Steps:

  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
  • Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add ground beef, beans, tomatoes, red onion, and soup base. Reduce heat to medium and boil, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour.
