This is a good recipe to use when company comes or when you are entertaining for brunch. Sometimes, I add dried apricots, snipped into small pieces. The apple syrup (in database) is very good with this too. Prep time includes 8 hours in refrigerator.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my French toast strata was a disaster. The bread was soggy and the custard was curdled. I think I'll try a different recipe next time.

This French toast strata was a bit of a disappointment. The bread was dry and the custard was bland. I think I'll stick to my old French toast recipe.
