My great grandmother used to serve onions and apples with pork quite often. This is as close as I could get to hers, but she usually used an iron skillet.

Steps:
- 1. Saute the onions in melted butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until tender.
- 2. Place the apple slices on top of the onions. Combine the brown sugar and the remaining ingredients. Sprinkle over the apple slices. Cover and simmer for 12 to 14 minutes.
- 3. Uncover and simmer an additional 5 minutes or until the apple slices are tender. Serve with a slotted spoon.
