- Place beans in a saucepan and cover with water; bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, until crisp-tender, 8-10 minutes. , Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir until tender, 3-5 minutes. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain beans; add to onion mixture. Cook and stir until heated through, 2-3 minutes.
