Number Of Ingredients 7

1 recipe pastry for 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup (packed) brown sugar
1/4 cup water
8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a sauce pan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add white sugar, brown sugar and water; bring to a boil. Reduce temperature, and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  • Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes.

This apple pie is the best I've ever had. The crust is perfectly flaky and the filling is bursting with flavor. I will definitely be making this pie again and again.

My first time making apple pie and it was a success! The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I used a store-bought pie crust to save time, and the pie still turned out great.

I've made this apple pie several times, and it always turns out great. The crust is easy to work with, and the filling is delicious. I like to add a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the filling for extra flavor.

This apple pie recipe is a keeper! The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was perfectly spiced. I used Granny Smith apples, and they held their shape well. The pie was a hit with my family and friends.
