I have been making these cookies since I was a child. My mother clipped the recipe out of the newspaper. They can be made with the M & M's candies, chocolate or another type chips, or they are also very good plain.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees In a large bowl combine shortening and sugars, blend until well combined. Beat in vanilla and eggs.
- 2. Sift remaining dry ingredients together and add to sugar/butter mixture, blending well. Stir in 1/4 cup of candies. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate tops of cookies with additional M&M's.
- 3. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
