A dear "Newfie" friend used to make these for me and I love them. Cut back on the oil in the skillet for a skinny version. To be really authentic serve these cod cakes with baked beans. You may use left over mashed potatoes but they will produce a softer pattie. Just boil your potatoes and mash them with nothing added.

I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I really enjoyed these cod cakes. They were light and flavorful, and the tartar sauce was the perfect complement. I would definitely order them again.

These cod cakes were a hit at my party! Everyone raved about how tasty they were. I think the secret is in the combination of herbs and spices. I also liked that the recipe didn't require any special ingredients or equipment.
