Original Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie image

The traditional recipe. (May substitute margarine for butter. The cookie will have a different texture, though some prefer it)

Number Of Ingredients 14

COMBINE:
2 1/4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
BEAT:
1 c marg. or butter, softened ( 2 sticks)
3/4 c granulated sugar
3/4 c brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs (add one at a time)
STIR IN:
2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c pecans, chopped (optional)
NOTE: IF OMITTING NUTS, ADD 2 T. OF ALL PURPOSE FLOUR TO MIXTURE.

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine first three ingredients.
  • 2. Beat next five ingredients. Gradually add flour mixture.
  • 3. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (optional)
  • 4. Drop by rounded Tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake.
