Time 30m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (2 lb) bag frozen french fries
1 cup colby-monterey jack cheese, shredded
6 pieces bacon, cooked
24 fluid ounces peanut oil (Can be reused later, store in refrigerator)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 dash salt
1 dash black pepper

Steps:

  • Divide the fries into half, and use the other half later. Heat oil to 350 degrees. If you do not have a thermostat, make sure the oil is hot enough, so that when you set a French fry in there it will cook immediately. If the french fry sinks to the bottom, and barely bubbles, it is not hot enough. Fry the potatoes in small batches, they are done when they are golden brown, and float to the top of the skillet. I like to use a Dutch Oven). Be sure to drain the potatoes on paper towels. You can keep them warm in the oven while the other fries are done.
  • When all French fries are done cooking, and drained place them onto a platter. Salt the french fries if you like, and sprinkle on cheese and cooked bacon. Pop these back into a warm oven until the cheese begins to melt.
  • Directions for dipping sauce:.
  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my fries didn't turn out anything like the ones in the picture. They were soggy and bland.

I thought these fries were just okay. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything special either.

These fries were really good, but they were a lot of work to make. I'm not sure if I would make them again.

I found that the fries didn't get as crispy as I would have liked. I think I might try frying them at a higher temperature next time.

These fries were a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I would try using less oil next time.

I was skeptical about this recipe, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fries were really good and tasted just like the ones from Outback.

I'm not a big fan of Outback Steakhouse, but these fries are an exception. They're so good that I would go back just to order them.

These fries were amazing! I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out perfect. I served them with Outback's signature dipping sauce and they were gone in minutes.

I tried this recipe last night and it was a hit! The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The seasoning was also spot-on. I will definitely be making these again.
