I remember terrific peanut butter cakes from my childhood...and this one ranks right up there with them!

Steps:
- 1. Cream peanut butter, shortening and sugar.
- 2. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
- 3. Alternate sifted flour with baking powder and milk
- 4. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. (I typically spray with Pam) Bake at 350 degrees until done (start testing with toothpick at 25 min)
- 5. FROSTING: Cook milk and sugar to soft ball stage; add vanilla; add peanut butter; stir to spreading consistency. Beat until it starts to lose its gloss. If too thick, add a little milk 1 T. at a time. If too thin, add peanut butter. Spread on cooled cake. (this is a fudge type frosting and is as thick as the picture shows)
