Pear Bread image

My father-in-law has a pear tree in his yard and brought me over a garbage sack of ripe pears one day. I found this recipe in an old recipe book my mother had. I gave away and froze the remaining bread for another day! Great with coffee in the morning or an afternoon snack!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 c fresh or canned pears
1/2 c oil
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 c nuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Beat oil and sugar until well blended. Beat in aggs, one at a time. Add sour cream and vanilla.
  • 2. Sift together flour, Salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to wet mixture. Beat until well blended. Fold in pears and nuts.
  • 3. Spoon into a 9x5 inch loaf pan
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then turn out and cool on rack.

This bread was a disappointment. It was dry and bland. I followed the recipe exactly, but it still turned out плохо.

This bread was good, but not great. It was a little dry and the pears were not as sweet as I would have liked. I think next time I will add some chopped walnuts or raisins to the batter.
