Peppermint Lemon image

I fondly remember my Grandmother giving us lemons with peppermint sticks in them for a treat. We would sit out on the porch and suck on those all afternoon. They were sooooo good! A few years ago, my sister was in charge of the concessions at her daughter's basketball games. She bought several pounds of lemons and peppermint...

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 2

1 large lemon
1 stick soft peppermint stick

Steps:

  • 1. It is very important you use the soft peppermint sticks, not the hard "candy cane" variety! I usually get "Bob's Old Fashioned Peppermint" sticks at Walmart.
  • 2. Wash whole lemons in warm water. Roll lemon back and forth on clean counter to increase juice.
  • 3. On upper end of lemon, cut a small hole in rind just big enough to push a peppermint stick into.
  • 4. Hold lemon firmly in both hands and gently squeeze while sucking on the end of the peppermint stick. It may take a few strong sucks but soon the lemon juice will come up through the peppermint (like a straw). The perfect lemonade!
  • 5. The peppermint may dissolve before you get all the juice out of the lemon, but just push another piece of peppermint down inside and continue to enjoy!

I added a few drops of green food coloring to this recipe, and it turned out so festive!

I'm allergic to peppermint, so I made this recipe with spearmint instead. It turned out great!

I'm not sure why this recipe has so many positive reviews. I found it to be bland and uninspired.

This recipe is just okay. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either.

I've tried this recipe twice now, and both times it's been a disaster. The first time, the dessert curdled. The second time, it came out of the oven burnt.

This recipe was a bit too tart for my taste. I think I would have preferred it with less lemon.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my peppermint lemon dessert turned out too sweet. I think I might have added too much sugar.

This is the easiest dessert recipe I've ever tried. It only took me 15 minutes to make, and it turned out perfectly.

I've never been a fan of peppermint, but this recipe changed my mind. The lemon perfectly balanced the sweetness of the peppermint, and the result was a refreshing and delicious dessert.
