Peppermint Liqueur image

I found this recipe on All Recipes. Peppermint liqueur has been made in South Africa since the 1700's. This is a simple recipe for it. Posted for ZWT4.

Yield 4-5 cups

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups water
2 1/2 cups brandy
3 drops peppermint oil
3 drops green food coloring (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Stir in the peppermint oil and green food coloring if using.
  • Allow to cool slightly before stirring in brandy.
  • Pour into a bottle and seal.
  • Tastes best after a couple of weeks.
