In Chicago, four of my church buddies would convene at my home...and we wouls spend the day ....making kloaches for our church bazaar! Naturally we had to, taste all day! Thats called quality control! They had to be perfect...how else could we tell ? LOL Here is a wonderful short cut recipe using the bread machine, that the...

Number Of Ingredients 11

1-1/4 c warm water
1/2 c butter
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1/3 c powdered milk
1/4 c mashed potato flakes...instant
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp salt
3-7/8 c bread flour
2 tsp active dry yeast
i use fillings from soho like: poppy seeds, apricot, pineapple, cherry..etc.

Steps:

  • 1. Put the first 10 ingredients in order, starting with water...into the bread pan. Select dough cycle, press start. Check dough after 5 minutes of mixing, adding 1-2 teaspoons of water if necessary.
  • 2. When the cycle is complete, spoon out the dough with a tablespoon and roll into walnut sized balls. Place two inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled..... About 1 hour.
  • 3. Flatten balls slightly with the palm of your hand and make a depression in the center of with your thumb. Making a nice inner ridge. Fill each with 1 tablespoon of a filling of your choice. Cover and let rise ......30 minutes. Preheat oven to 370 F. Bake in a pre-heated oven 13-15 minutes. Remove from oven, brush with 1/4 cup of melted butter. Cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powder sugar when serving.
