Number Of Ingredients 10

3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon onion juice
1 1/2 teaspoons onion juice

Steps:

  • To make onion juice, grate or finely chop an onion in a blender; pour the onion into a piece of cheesecloth or a fine strainer, and allow the juice to drip into a bowl. Squeeze the cloth to get more juice.
  • In a 1-quart jar with a lid, mix together the sugar, mustard powder, vegetable oil, poppy seeds, salt, white vinegar, and onion juice; tighten the lid onto the jar, and shake vigorously to combine.
  • Reshake the dressing before using.
  • Note: Do not substitute the onion juice for any other ingredient - it makes a difference in the outcome of the dressing!
