Steps:
- To make onion juice, grate or finely chop an onion in a blender; pour the onion into a piece of cheesecloth or a fine strainer, and allow the juice to drip into a bowl. Squeeze the cloth to get more juice.
- In a 1-quart jar with a lid, mix together the sugar, mustard powder, vegetable oil, poppy seeds, salt, white vinegar, and onion juice; tighten the lid onto the jar, and shake vigorously to combine.
- Reshake the dressing before using.
- Note: Do not substitute the onion juice for any other ingredient - it makes a difference in the outcome of the dressing!
