Sausage Chili Bake image

Chili and cornbread come to the dinner table in a one-dish hearty bake.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
1 small onion, chopped (1/4 cup)
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
1 can (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ kidney beans, undrained
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 cup milk
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 10-inch skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Cook sausage and onion in skillet 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender. Spoon into ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish. Stir in garlic salt, chili powder, tomatoes and beans.
  • In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over sausage mixture.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until crust is light golden brown.
