Sesame-Soy Beef Stir-Fry image

Early in our marriage (when I didn't have anything cooking-wise, least of all a clue!), I would browse the grocery store entryway for recipes. And the wondrous thing about this type of recipe is that they tend to be fool-proof, delicious, and usually affordable. This one is Asian in base and the trick to making Asian-tasting...

Categories     Beef

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 c cooked rice
1 lb beef round tip steaks, 1/4" thick
16 oz frozen broccoli and red pepper mix
1/3 c water
2 tsp cornstarch
MARINADE:
3 Tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp sesame oil

Steps:

  • 1. Cook rice accordingly.
  • 2. In medium bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Remove 2 tbsp; set aside. Stack beef steaks; cut lengthwise in half and then crosswise into 1" wide strips. Add beef to remaining marinade in bowl; toss to coat.
  • 3. Heat large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add beef (½ at a time) and stir-fry 1 minute or until outside surface of beef is no longer pink. (Do not overcook). Remove from skillet.
  • 4. In same skillet, combine vegetables and water; cook 4 to 5 minutes or until water is almost evaporated and vegetables are hot, stirring occasionally. Combine cornstarch mixture and reserved marinade; add to vegetables. Cook and stir 1 minute or until thickened and bubbly. Return beef; heat through. Serve over rice.

This stir-fry was a disappointment. The beef was tough and the sauce was bland. I served it with udon noodles and it was a waste of time. I will not be making this again!

I was a little disappointed with this stir-fry. The beef was a little dry and the sauce was a little bland. I served it with brown rice and it was a mediocre meal. I would not make this again.

This stir-fry was okay. The beef was a little overcooked, but the sauce was tasty. I served it with udon noodles and it was a nice meal. I would make this again, but I would adjust the cooking time for the beef.

This stir-fry was a hit! The beef was tender and the sauce was perfectly balanced. I served it with jasmine rice and steamed vegetables, and it was a complete meal. I will definitely be making this again!
