Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened

1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Mix sugar, shortening, margarine, vanilla and egg. Mix in sour cream. Mix dry ingredients and add by portions to wet ingredients. Make dough into rounded ball or disk and cover with plastic. Refrigerate overnight. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness, cut cookies. Can sprinkle with sugar if you will not be frosting them later. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until no indentation remains when touched, 6 to 8 minutes.

These cookies were a bit too sour for my taste. I think I would have preferred them with less sour cream. Otherwise, they were good.

I've made these cookies several times now and they are always a hit. They are so soft and chewy, and the sour cream gives them a nice tang. I love to frost them with a simple glaze or sprinkle them with powdered sugar.

These cookies were absolutely delicious! They were so easy to make and they turned out perfect. I loved the combination of the sour cream and the sugar, it gave the cookies a wonderful flavor. I will definitely be making these again.
