Spaghetti Sauce, Mom's image

Make Meatballs (Mom's, in JAP), then make this spaghetti sauce. You will have some very happy people chowing down on this great combination!

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 recipe meatballs (in jap), prepared
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1/2 c onion, minced
1 c green pepper, finely chopped
3 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
36 oz contadina tomato paste
45 oz hunts tomato sauce
9 can(s) cold water from hunts can
3/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp salt
1/4 tsp fennel
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp basil

Steps:

  • 1. After making meatballs, strain oil and use to brown meats, onion, pepper, garlic and salt. Add ingredients down to the water. Skim fat from surface, bring to a boil. Add all but basil, simmer about 2 hours. Tilt lid to allow some of the steam to escape. Keep sauce bubbling slightly. Add meatballs, simmer 1 hour to thicken. Add basil.

I'm not a huge fan of spaghetti sauce, but this one was really good. I liked the flavor and the texture. It was also very easy to make.
