STRAWBERRY TORTE image

Number Of Ingredients 11

Cake
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
4-6 tbsp cream
1 cup sifted cake flower
4 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla or Chambord or grand Marnier
Filling
Possibilities - orange marmalade thinned with a little water and brushed on top of cake or rasperry jam or lemon curd or ice cream shaped as a layer. on top of jam or curd place stawberries ( blackberries/blueberries) Put top layer with meringue side on top.

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar. Add flour, beat in egg yolks. Add cream, mix well. Divide mix and spread evenly in 2 pans. Beat egg whites til stiff, gradually add sugar while beating, add flavoring. Divide and spread evenly over batter Bake in preheated 300 oven for 30-35 minutes. Let cool in pans. Run sharp knife around edge, and remove wax paper from pan. Place one cake meringue side down on serving plate. See above for filling. Place top layer meringue side up. Serve with mixed berries and whipped cream.
