Sweet Cherries Romanoff image

I love anything cherry and wait anxiously every year for cherry picking season and the opportunity to make this recipe with fresh cherries. Dark red ripe plump gorgeous jewels served with a tangy topping...can you say Delish?? Of course you can use frozen or canned in the off season but nothing beats the sensation of biting...

I'm allergic to almonds. Can I substitute another nut, like walnuts or pecans?

I thought the cherries were a bit too tart, so I added a little bit of sugar to sweeten them up.

I wasn't a big fan of the almonds, so I omitted them from the recipe.

I found that the custard was a bit too thick for my taste, so I added a little bit of milk to thin it out.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. The cherries were plump and juicy, the custard was rich and creamy, and the almonds added a nice crunch.
