Tex-Mex Pinto Beans image

1 pound dried pinto beans (2 cups), sorted and rinsed
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
6 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high heat setting 7 to 9 hours or until beans are tender.
