Turkish Lamb Burgers image

Recipe from "Classic Home Cooking" by Mary Berry and Marlena Spieler.

1 lb ground lamb
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1 c fresh bread crumbs
1 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
1 Tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp tomato paste
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp salt
FOR SERVING:
pita bread
plain yogurt
mint
cucumber slices

Steps:

  • 1. Put the ground lamb into a bowl with the remaining ingredients and mix well. Shape into 4 patties.
  • 2. Put under the broiler, 4 inches from the heat, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until browned and firm.
  • 3. Serve in pita bread with yogurt, mint, and cuĀ­cumber slices.
