Underwoods Cherry Cobbler image

Got this from a family cookbook. I think it originally came from a restaurant that is no longer in business. It is wonderful. The best cherry cobbler I've ever eaten. I think the crust is the key. Enjoy!!!

1/2 teaspoon salt
cold water

1 pinch salt
3 tablespoons flour
1 can cherries

Steps:

  • Combine Crisco and flour in a bowl and mix well.
  • Add salt and enough cold water to make ingredients cling together.
  • Roll dough until it is very thin.

  • Combine in bowl the sugar, salt and flour.

  • Add cherries, water and food coloring.
  • (I put these ing. in a saucepan and cook till thick stirring frequently) Mix well and pour over butter in pan.

  • Bake at 350 until brown.
  • Very good!

This cobbler was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was still very good. The cherries were plump and juicy, and the cobbler topping was crispy and golden brown. I will definitely be making this again, but I will use less sugar next time.

This cobbler was a disappointment. The cherries were bland and the cobbler topping was dry and crumbly. I would not recommend this recipe.
