Wiener and Pasta Pot image

This is a recipe I was missing from home. Lennie very kindly came up with it for me. It comes from the Company's Coming Pasta book. I have included my own variations on it. The pasta actually cooks in the sauce. I love this stuff and so did my kids!

Yield 8 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (10 ounce) cans tomato soup
2 cups water
1 (10 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, with liquid
1 lb hot dog, cut up bite size
8 ounces small shell pasta
2 teaspoons chili powder

Steps:

  • In a large dutch oven, combine everything; cover; cook slowly until shells are tender but firm. This should take 15 to 17 minutes.
  • My own variation: I always browned my sliced weiners in the pot first before I added the remaining ingredients. I also added a bit of garlic powder, and topped it with cheese at the end.

Overall, I thought this dish was pretty good. It was easy to make and the flavors were nice. I would definitely make it again.

This dish was a bit too spicy for my taste, but I think that's because I used a hot sausage. I'll try it again with a milder sausage next time.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my dish turned out really watery. I think I might have added too much liquid.

This dish was okay, but I wouldn't make it again. The flavors didn't really come together.

I was disappointed with this dish. The sauce was bland and the wieners were tough.

Easy and delicious! I used Italian sausage instead of wieners and it turned out great.

This dish was a hit with my family! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the wieners added a nice smoky flavor. I will definitely be making this again.
