Time 2h15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2+ lb beef rump roast
1 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp black pepper
1 Tbsp sea salt or to taste
1 c strong coffee ( i used the leftover from morning)
4 tsp butter or margerine
1 Tbsp cornstarch

Steps:

  • 1. pre-heat the oven to 450
  • 2. remove the netting from the roast.
  • 3. Melt butter in a heavy, oven proof skillet, I use cast iron.
  • 4. brown the roast on all sides in the butter.
  • 5. rub all spices all over the roast and leave it in the skillet.
  • 6. add the cup of coffee and a cup of water.
  • 7. place in oven, let cook 1/2 hour, turn over and repeat for the next two hours.
  • 8. remove from oven, let sit 10 minutes and slice across grain.
  • 9. place roast on platter, set skillet on stove on medium heat, add tablespoon of cornstarch and let come to boil until thickened, stirring constantly. This is an awesome sauce/gravy.

Overall, this was a good recipe. The beef was tender and the gravy was flavorful. However, I would have liked it more if the instructions were a little more detailed.

This recipe was easy to follow and the beef turned out great. However, I found that the gravy was a little too salty for my taste.

I liked this recipe, but I found that the meat was a little dry. I think I might try cooking it for a shorter amount of time next time.

I was skeptical at first because I've never cooked rump roast before, but I'm so glad I tried this recipe. The beef was fall-apart tender and the gravy was rich and delicious.

I love this recipe! It's so easy to make and the results are always amazing. I've even used different types of meat, like pork roast and chicken, and it's always turned out great.
